Easterseals Arc of Northeast Indiana recently received a $32,000 grant from the Lincoln Financial Foundation to support employment services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Easterseals Arc’s employment services aim to enhance self-sufficiency and employability by providing foundational skills, education, support services, and community-based job training. Easterseals Arc will assess program participants to identify employment barriers and provide skill development, job placement services, and support as needed.
In addition to helping individuals find community jobs to match their skills and interests, Easterseals Arc provides training and facilitates hands-on work experience through its Employment Readiness Academy as well as Pre-Employment Transition Services at area high schools. Easterseals Arc also is developing three learning and simulation labs to prepare individuals for jobs in manufacturing, hospitality and health care.
Lincoln Financial Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Lincoln Financial Group, believes in empowering people to live greater lives, which advances culture and empowers greater positive change. Its grant is part of Lincoln Financial’s annual $10 million investment in its local communities’ youth education, economic and workforce development, human well-being, and arts programs.
