Easterseals Arc of Northeast Indiana has been awarded a $1,788 grant from the St. Joseph Community Health Foundation to design and implement recreational therapy activities for individuals with disabilities.
Easterseals Arc will develop a library of recreational activities customized to help individuals attending the Adult Day Center achieve health, fitness and mobility goals.
The funding will help the agency purchase equipment such as balance boards, resistance bands, visual exercise systems, portable pedal exercisers, and more.
About 110 Easterseals Arc consumers with significant disabilities will benefit from the recreational therapy activities. The activities will aim to develop fine and gross motor skills; expand range of motion; and increase flexibility, stamina, muscle strength, hand-eye coordination, and core strength.
