The Cardinal Services Board of Directors takes great pleasure in announcing that Matthew Boren has been named the new executive director of Cardinal Services, effective June 1, 2021. Currently serving as executive vice president, Boren has been with Cardinal for 16 years, serving in multiple positions across the organization and its programs.
His experience at Cardinal includes support to individuals with disabilities in their homes and in the community; helping people with disabilities find employment and succeed in the workplace; oversite of children and family programs making sure each child receives the services they need; and as transportation manager, assuring that people have access to safe, affordable transportation.
“Having worked with Matt over a long period, members of the Board have tremendous confidence in his leadership abilities and are excited for Cardinal’s future under his guidance,” said Cardinal Board Chair Angie Ritchey, of Lake City Bank
Ritchey added a special thanks from the board, employees, clients, Cardinal supporters, and the community to interim CEO Jane Wear. “We can’t thank Jane enough for everything she has done for Cardinal Services over the last eight months. Stepping in as she did was an incredible act of commitment to Cardinal and the people we serve.”
Boren takes over as Cardinal is poised for future growth and providing new services to people with developmental disabilities. In preparing for this future, Cardinal Services has created an alignment with Easterseals Arc of Northeast Indiana that will allow them to remain independent non-profits and yet work closely together in partnership. Each organization has over 65 years of history supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
According to Cardinal Interim CEO Jane Wear, “This formal alignment partnership will allow both organizations to share best practices and gain efficiencies in important areas. Easterseals Arc has a statewide reputation as a leader in our field, and their strengths and resources will complement ours. We are excited to be working together and laying the foundation for future growth.”
Easterseals Arc President and CEO Donna K. Elbrecht shared Wear’s enthusiasm and commitment to growth.
“We are always committed to serving individuals and families in northeast Indiana,” Elbrecht said. “This is a great opportunity to provide new and innovative services and supports to people who need them. Cardinal Services is an excellent organization with dedicated staff serving the needs of people with disabilities. I have tremendous respect for their team, and I know we can do more together.”
