Fort Wayne, Ind. — AWS Foundation has awarded a $4,235 grant to Easterseals Arc of Northeast Indiana to support the Fort Wayne Abilities Co-op (FWACO) in providing inclusive, sensory friendly social events.
The Fort Wayne Abilities Co-op includes Easterseals Arc, YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne, Camp Red Cedar and Turnstone. The four organizations partner in presenting fun social activities for people with disabilities and their families. The events foster community acceptance and inclusion while promoting healthy living, encouraging physical activity and enhancing motor skills.
Past FWACO events have included movie nights, dances, splash bashes and teen socials. The grant funds will help the collaborative offer at least four events in 2025:
- An event at Turnstone for ages 12 to 25 on March 15
- An event hosted by Easterseals Arc at McMillen Park Community Center for ages 7 and up on June 7
- An event at the Jackson R. Lehman Family YMCA for ages 7 and up on July 25
- An event at Camp Red Cedar for ages 18 and older on Nov. 14
More information about upcoming events, including registration links, will be shared on the co-op’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/FWACO.
